How the Service Works

I run a hybrid practice. Most of the work happens online through a secure client portal, and I meet by video, phone, or in person by appointment. The goal is simple: no surprises, no scramble in April, and a clear answer to “what happens next” at every step.

Here is how working with me goes, from the first call to the finished work.

  1. Step 1

    A free 15-minute consultation

You tell me what is going on, and I ask a few questions. By the end of the call you will know whether I am the right fit and what I would recommend. If I am not the right fit, I will tell you and point you somewhere better.

  2. Step 2

A written quote and engagement letter

Before any work begins, you receive a written quote and an engagement letter that spell out the scope and the fee. Nothing starts until you sign it. Tax preparation is paid in full up front; your signed letter and payment unlock your document checklist. Planning and bookkeeping engagements run for twelve months, and you can pay for the full year up front, monthly, or quarterly.

  3. Step 3

Your secure portal and document checklist

You get access to my secure client portal, where you sign documents, upload files, and message me. Your checklist is built around your situation, not a generic list. During filing season, documents are due 10 days before your appointment.

  4. Step 4

    The work itself

I prepare your return, build your plan, set up your books, or respond to your IRS or state notice, depending on what you engaged me for. Some returns are prepared by a member of my team. Every return and every deliverable is reviewed by me before it reaches you.

  5. Step 5

    We walk through it together

Before anything is filed or finalized, we meet by video or in person and go through it line by line. You will understand why the number is what it is and what, if anything, to do differently next year.

  6. Step 6

    Filing and follow-up

I e-file, confirm acceptance, and put your return, signed forms, and acceptance letter in your portal. Planning and advisory clients get scheduled check-ins through the year, and every client can reach me when something changes.

Services

“A return is the last step, not the whole job. Every service on this page exists because the decisions that determine what you owe are made during the year — not in the weeks before you file.”

Tax Preparation and Compliance

Federal and state preparation for individuals and businesses, including multi-state returns and returns involving rental property, equity compensation, or self-employment income.
